Eco‑friendly Deicer

Professional Snow & Ice Control Solutions

A Korean deicer built to melt hard and tread lightly — strong performance with minimised environmental risk.

Not a deicer you spread more of — a deicer that works faster and goes further.

Plenty of compounds melt snow. Far fewer bring a winter site back to normal quickly. The Ons Deicing Agent is built to start melting fast even at low temperature and to reach the road surface evenly.

The spherical solid grade drives into the ice layer and melts from within; the liquid grade spreads quickly over a wide area for even coverage. Choosing between them by road condition, spreading equipment and treated area is what makes winter safety management efficient across public roads, industrial sites, car parks and logistics facilities.

What makes a good deicer? In developing one that serves both road safety and the environment, Ons worked to three criteria. First, how effectively it depresses the freezing point at low temperature. Responding fast to sudden winter temperature swings — preventing ice and reducing the risk of vehicle and pedestrian accidents — mattered most, and we verified melting efficiency experimentally under genuinely severe cold.

Second, how fast a given quantity melts snow, because melting speed determines how quickly a road becomes safe again and drives down both working time and cost. Third, how far corrosion of road structures and vehicles, and impact on the surrounding ecosystem, can be minimised. We ran detailed analysis of physical and chemical safety and of ecotoxicity.

How it works

A deicer does not break the ice. It breaks the bond holding the ice to the road.

  1. 01

    Spread

Choose spherical solid or liquid. Liquid suits pre-treatment before ice forms; solid suits snow and ice already on the ground.

  2. 02

    Bite in

A spherical grain has a small contact area, so pressure concentrates and it drives into the ice. Flake types spread the load and penetrate slowly.

  3. 03

    Dissolve and warm

As the deicer dissolves in moisture it releases heat, which speeds the melting of the ice around it.

  4. 04

    Depress the freezing point

The dissolved salt lowers the freezing point of water. Depending on the grade, Ons deicers stay effective to −18 ℃ or −32 ℃.

  5. 05

    Break the bond

The brine works between ice and pavement and severs the bond — from here a plough or blade lifts it away easily.

  6. 06

    Drain and manage residue

Meltwater drains away. Spreading only what is needed is the surest way to limit corrosion and ecological load.

The freezing-point figures are raw-material properties. Actual spread rate and melting speed depend on pavement temperature, snowfall and equipment.

Key advantages
  1. 01

    Performance in severe cold

Strong melting even at very low temperatures, verified experimentally

  2. 02

    Fast melting rate

Spherical grain melts roughly 3 mL/g of ice in 30 minutes and 3.5 mL/g in 45 minutes

  3. 03

    Spherical grain, deeper bite

A small contact area concentrates pressure, so the grain drives into the ice and breaks its bond to the road — flake types spread the load and penetrate slowly

  4. 04

    Liquid grade spreads evenly

Covers a wide area fast and evenly — and works as a pre-treatment before ice forms

  5. 05

    Less corrosion, lighter footprint

A low-corrosion grade is available alongside, reducing wear on structures and vehicles

  6. 06

    More done with less

Best-in-class result from a smaller dose, cutting both working time and cost

Why Ons

Melting that starts quickly even at low temperature

The penetration of a spherical solid and the spread of a liquid

Designed so a smaller quantity still clears the site

Supplied from small bags to 1,000 kg bulk bags to match the site

Judged on spreading efficiency and ease of work, not melting power alone

Product design that weighs the load on road structures and the surrounding environment

Melts fast, spreads evenly, gives the site its time back.

FAQ
How do we get a quote for bulk purchase?

Send us the quantity, delivery site and when you need it, and we will quote. We supply 5, 10, 20 and 25 kg bags and 1,000 kg bulk bags, and set up seasonal contracts for sites with recurring volume such as logistics centres and industrial complexes. Contact ons@i-ons.co.kr or +82-31-491-0842.

Do you supply municipalities and public bodies?

Yes — we supply municipal snow clearing operations and public facilities. Our deicer carries the Korean Eco-label, which makes it a green product that public institutions are required to purchase under the Act on the Promotion of Purchase of Green Products. We can provide a quotation, test reports and the MSDS together; tell us your procurement route and the documents required and we will prepare them.

Does the deicer hold the Korean Eco-label?

Yes. It is certified under the Korean Eco-label scheme of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, on two grounds: reduced hazardous substances and improved resource circulation. The Eco-label is a national certification awarded by KEITI after assessing a product’s environmental impact across its life cycle. Because public institutions must give preference to green products under the Act on the Promotion of Purchase of Green Products, the certification applies directly to public-sector procurement.

Can it be used in apartment complexes or car park ramps?

Yes. Where concrete structures and planting are close by we recommend eco-friendly grade 2 (effective to −18 ℃), which is less corrosive. On ramps where meltwater collects, check the drainage and spread only what is needed — that is the most effective protection for the structure.

Where can we buy small quantities?

Bags of 5–25 kg are available on Coupang under the SNOW MELT name. For bulk bags, large volumes and the liquid grade, contact us directly for a quote and delivery schedule.

Should we choose the spherical or the flake grade?

For pavement that already carries an ice layer, spherical. Its small contact area concentrates pressure, so it drives through the ice and breaks the bond with the road. Flake spreads across the surface but penetrates more slowly because the load is distributed.

When is the liquid grade the right choice?

For pre-treatment ahead of expected icing, and for large areas that need even coverage. Because it spreads quickly and delays ice forming in the first place, it also helps cut how much solid deicer you need afterwards.

We are concerned about corrosion from deicer.

The grade with the best low-temperature performance is corrosive to metal. We also supply eco-friendly grade 2 (effective to −18 ℃) with a lower corrosion profile, which we recommend for environmentally sensitive areas and structures at risk. Whichever grade you use, spreading only what is needed remains the most effective way to limit corrosion.

What spread rate should we plan for?

It varies too widely with pavement temperature, snowfall, ice thickness and equipment for one number to be useful. Send us your site conditions and we will work through product choice and a spreading plan with you.

How should it be stored?

The product is strongly hygroscopic — keep it sealed and dry. Once opened, exposure to moisture can cause caking. Bulk bags are best kept on pallets rather than directly on the ground.
