The exposition is hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) and organised by the Korea Women Inventors Association (KWIA). The award was presented to Ms. Cha Mikyung, Chief Executive Officer of Ons.

What was recognised is a technology rather than a brand. It is now registered as Korean Patent No. 10-2836178, “Natural hair-dye kit based on henna and indigo, method for its manufacture, and hair-dyeing method using the same.” Henna had previously been available only as a powder, which had to be measured out and mixed with water before every application. The invention keeps the natural composition unchanged and reformulates the preparation step as a ready-to-use liquid kit.

The Gold Prize was issued as a separate special award under certificate No. 2025-005, and the Special Prize of the Minister of Gender Equality and Family was awarded in the government-institution category.

The technology is applied in our Water Henna products, which completed the functional-cosmetics review of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (No. 20230026680) and recorded a mean primary irritation index of 0.00 in a human application test.

The programme featured the set of Henna Oil, Henna Essence, Indigo Oil and Indigo Essence. It also demonstrated how the product is used: the oil and the essence are stirred together for about a minute, applied to the hair, and left for thirty minutes each.

The citation reads: “For contributing to the development of the regional economy through exemplary corporate management and technological innovation.” The commendation was conferred by Governor Kim Dong-yeon.

Ons previously received a Gyeonggi Province Commendation for Merit in Science and Technology in 2016.

The citation reads: “For a substantial contribution to national competitiveness and to the advancement of industry at home and abroad, and in particular for efforts to improve the business environment and the quality of life of employees, setting an example to others.” The commendation was conferred by Chairman Kim Jung-hoi.

Our colleagues spent two days in Danyang, North Chungcheong Province, on 3–4 May 2019 for the first-half company workshop.

Looking ahead to more ambitious goals, we visited the Danyang Skywalk observation deck and came down by zip line, and took time to rest and regroup at Gosu Cave and among the Eight Scenic Views of Danyang.

Ons has developed and manufactured fine-chemical materials, including liquid direct dyes for paper, at the Sihwa Industrial Complex in Ansan since 2003.

Our colleagues spent two days at Saemmaeul Leisure Park in Gapyeong on 27–28 April 2018 for the first-half company workshop.

To mark our goals for the year we went canoeing on Lake Chuncheon and rode all-terrain vehicles in Gapyeong.

Muui Island sits next to Silmi Island, which is known as a filming location for Korean film and television.

The whole team abseiled from a height of thirty metres and rode the Sea Sky World zip line, which runs more than five hundred metres along the beach from the same height.

Our colleagues spent two days at Yangpyeong Valley on 22–23 April 2016 for the first-half company workshop, held under the theme of unity and shared vision.

We reviewed the first-quarter results and shared our plans for the year ahead.

We also discussed how to strengthen our working culture and keep communication open across the company.

Two additional reactors have been installed, raising monthly production capacity by 400–500 tons.

The added capacity, together with strengthened quality control, allows us to secure export volumes and to grow as Korea's only manufacturer of liquid dyes for paper.
